The trip showcased Asia World Indonesia’s products and Starwood’s finest hotels in Bali and Jogjakarta.
Asia World Indonesia and Starwood Hotels & Resorts jointly hosted a familisariation trip for members of the National Association of Career Travel Agents (NACTA) from 12 to 21 January 2015.
The 16 participants on the trip were from Team Travel (independent affiliate of Andavo Travel and Virtuoso affiliate), Genesis Premier Travel, O Happy Day. Journeys Around The World/Cruise Specialist (Virtuoso affiliate), Jana’s Jaunts Travel, Explorers Travel, Directional Strategies Travel, Luxury Travel by Wanda and Flights Travel
Among the attendees were Mr Robert Duglin Vice President, Sales & Industry Relations of NACTA and organiser of the trip; Mrs Darlean McClure, NACTA’s Co-Director of Central Valley Chapter; Mrs Araceli Talusan. NACTA’s Co-Director for Boston Chapter; and Mrs. Suzanne Drumm, NACTA’s Co-Director for Virginia Chapter.
The trip showcased Asia World Indonesia’s products and services, as well as provided the opportunity for the participants to experience Starwood Hotels & Resorts properties –The Laguna, St. Regis and W Retreat in Bali, and Sheraton Mustika Jogjakarta in Jogjakarta.
The visitors spent their time exploring the beauty and wonders of Bali and Jogjakarta in two specially designed programmes to these two destinations.
On the 8 days/7 nights Bali tour they explored Ubud, the island’s cultural and arts hub; visited the various ancient and natural attractions; sailed on a luxury catamaran cruise to Nusa Lembongan for a day of sun and sand; and explored nature on a road trip to the Gunung Kawi Temple, Mount Batur with its vast crater lake, and Petulu, home to the majestic white herons.
The Bali tour was followed by the 3-days/2 nights journey to Jogjakarta, Indonesia’s arts and cultural centre. Highlights were a visit to the majestic 8th-century Buddhist monument of Borobudur, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to watch the spectacular sunrise, and to the ancient Prambanan Temple, as well as experienced local traditional life in Candirejo.
All the participants enjoyed the trip and were most impressed with what the two destinations have to offer in attractions, food, culture and the locals’ warm hospitality. They were also impressed with the service of Asia World Indonesia and the staff who accompanied them on their trip.
In a letter to AWI, trip organiser Mr Duglin thanked the DMC’s team for the “wonderful and outstanding job” in guiding the group on the tours.
He said: “Mr Lanang and Mr Tri were wonderful guides who were very thoughtful, kind and professional. They are among the very best I’ve ever encountered anywhere in the world.
“Of course, our entire group is in love with Ms Melvyn – she was absolutely wonderful and is the perfect person to work with the North American market. She is cheerful, friendly and very professional. Melvyn is truly a treasure and put together the very best programme!”
