Plans to expand AWI’s market reach domestically and internationally.
Marcel Barmettler joined Asia World Indonesia as its General Manager on 1 October 2015.
A Swiss national from Luzern, Switzerland, Marcel has a strong background in finance. He has spent the last seven years working in the hospitality and travel industry in South East Asia.
On his plans for Asia World Indonesia and where he wants to take it, Marcel replies: “I am planning to discover new markets like Japan and South Korea, and strengthen the relationship with our Virtuoso partners worldwide in 2016.”
Domestically he is looking beyond Bali to develop new destinations such as Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Flores, and Papua.“Asia World Indonesia can offer attractive tailor-made itineraries for these destinations. For 2016 we’re also promoting Indonesia as an attractive destination for meetings, incentives, conventions and events (MICE). We’re passing on the message that we’re the right partner for any MICE event in Indonesia.”
On how Asia World Indonesia intends to stay ahead of the competition, especially with the large number of tour operators and DMCs in Bali, Marcel replies: “Our team is developing new exciting products and packages continuously, and combined with the company’s excellent services we are always one step ahead of our competitors.”
