Medan gets its first Radisson hotel

Radisson Medan will launch in 2016.

Carlson Panorama Hospitality, a joint venture between Carlson Rezidor and the Panorama Group, has signed a management contract for a Radisson hotel in North Sumatra – Radisson Medan.

Formerly the Asean International Medan, the 219-room hotel will undergo extensive renovations estimated to cost about US$5 million. It will remain open throughout the renovations, and will launch as the Radisson Medan in the second half of 2016.

Facilities at Radisson Medan will include a swimming pool, a gym, an all-day dining restaurant, lobby bar, meeting rooms and a ballroom.

The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Medan, close to major shopping malls and golf courses, as well as tourist attractions including the Great Mosque, the Sultan’s Palace, and historical buildings.

Thorsten Kirschke, President, Asia Pacific of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, said Medan, as the economic and commercial hub of northern Indonesia, is an important destination for domestic business travellers.

“Radisson Medan is a great addition to our portfolio in Indonesia where we are continuing to grow with our long-term strategic partner, Panorama Group,” he added.
