Time Zones
Indonesia has three times zones. Western Indonesia (Sumatra & Java) − GMT+7, Central Indonesia (Bali, East Timor, East & South Kalimantan, Lombok, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara) − GMT+8, Eastern Indonesia (Maluku & Papua) − GMT+9

Currency
The unit of currency is Indonesia Rupiah indicated as IDR. USD 1 is roughly equivalent to IDR 9.980. Denominations are in 500; 1,000; 2,000; 5,000; 10,000; 20,000; 50,000 and 100,000 notes. Foreign currency can be converted at banks and money changers.

Airport Tax
Travellers have to pay an airport tax of IDR 100,000 in Java and IDR 150,000 in Bali for international flights and from IDR 40,000 for domestic flights

Accommodation
Indonesia has a wide range of accommodation at competitive rates, ranging from deluxe hotels and resorts of international standard to medium and budget hotels, youth hostels and timeshare apartments. Privately operated motor homes are also available for rental.

Electricity
Voltage is 220 – 240 volts AC at 50 cycles per second. Voltage 110 – 130 volts AC is still in use. Most hotels supply 220 volts, 50 cycles AC. Check with the reception as some districts supply 100 volts. Sockets are for two-pin round plugs. Electrical appliances from Europe may require an electrical adaptor, while electrical appliances without dual voltage may require a voltage transformer.

ATM (Automatic Teller Machine)
Available throughout the island and dispense only Indonesian Rupiah. The daily withdrawal limit is IDR1, 250,000 in IDR 50,000 notes or IDR 2.5 million in IDR 100,000 notes.

Taxis
Taxis are metered, with starting fare ranging from IDR 4,000 or IDR 5,000, are available in major cities. Local transportation such as buses and becak (a tricycle pedalled by a driver) are also popular modes of transportation offering very affordable fares.

Telephone Calls

For calls made outside Indonesia dial 62 followed by the city code and telephone number.
Within Indonesia, the city code must be preceded by a zero (0) from most phones.
To make an international calls press 001 or 008 
or find an International Direct Dial (IDD) in hotels or private telephone service (Wartel).
For operator assistance dial 101 or 104.
For general information in a province inside the country dial area code +008.
For time information dial 003

Business Hours
Business offices are usually open either from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm 
or 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, with a break for lunch 
between 12 noon and 1 pm. Many business offices are closed on Saturdays. Government office hours are from 8 am to 4 pm from Mondays to Fridays. Many government offices are closed on 
Saturday.

Post Office
Post offices are opened from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm daily except Sundays and public holidays.

Weights and Measure
Indonesia follows the metric system in weights and measures.

Public Holidays 2012 & 2013
Indonesia public holidays are largely made of religious festivals, such as Muslims Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan or the fasting month, Hindus Hari Raya Nyepi (Day of Silence) or Christians Good Friday. Other public holidays include international holidays such as New Years day, or national holidays such Indonesian Independence Day. Holidays are celebrated throughout Indonesia.
