TRAVEL GUIDES

The Republic of Indonesia is a sprawling archipelago of more than 17,508 islands (6,000 inhabited) comprising five main islands – Sumatra, Jawa, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua – with 33 provinces, making it the largest archipelago and the fourth most populous country in the world. The capital city is Jakarta.

Indonesia is strategically located in Southeast Asia, straddling the Equator and stretching 5,150 km between the Australian and Asian continental mainland. lying along major sea-lanes from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.

The country shares land borders with Papua New Guinea, East Timor and Malaysia. Other neighbour ing countries include Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, and the Indian territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Across Indonesias numerous islands live many distinct ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups, with the Javanese as the largest and most politically dominated. It has developed a shared identity defined by a national language, ethnic diversity, religious pluralism within a majority Muslim population, and a history of colonialism including rebellion against it.

The countrys vast land expanse incorporates rich, varied flora and fauna and is one of the most diverse treasures in the region. Its remarkable and varied landscape contains innumerable contrasts – from idyllic white sand beaches to fiery volcanoes, ancient temples, lush rice terraces, rugged barren landscapes and dense jungles inhabited by exotic animals and filled with beautiful flora and fauna.

Each of its numerous islands, from Sumatra to Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, the Maluku Islands, Papua and Bali has its own special charms

Indonesias facilities, specifically its hotels, are among the best in the world, located on white sandy beaches, overlooking green river valleys or situated in the heart of busy capital, Jakarta.
